Rano is a village that located in Balaesang Tanjung Sub-district, Donggala District, Central Sulawesi. This village has 3,267 hectares area with some potential natural resources. A few years ago, the forest area around Rano Village was threatened by gold mining operation plan of PT Cahaya Manunggal Abadi (CMA). The plan was rejected by Rano villagers because it can threaten the source of their lives.
To anticipate the threat, head of village and villagers in Rano were tried to involve the community, especially women group in decision-making processes which related to forest and land sector through capacity building activities and village discussions. Women’s role is one of the important things to accommodate people’s rights in accessing natural resources, as well as to actualize the sustainable forest and land governance that includes gender equality.
