Sawit Watch is an NGO focusing on the impacts of palm oil expansion. Sawit Watch’s work with SETAPAK falls under the following land and forest governance themes;
Community forests
Sawit Watch protects the rights of smallholder farmers and indigenous communities. Sawit Watch are working towards reforming policies to protect high conservation forests and community managed forest areas from palm oil expansion. This includes strengthening the capacity of communities to protect their forest areas.
Rule of law
Sawit Watch are investigating corruption in the palm oil sector and reviewing palm oil concession permits to ensure adherence to laws.
Media and outreach
Sawit Watch are conducting public campaigns at national and local levels about the impact of palm oil concessions.
