The community in Gunung Talang, Solok District, West Sumatra is facing the threats towards land based industry. Since 2017, Talang Mountain’s area was planned to build a generator powered by the earth’s core heat (PLTB) that drove hundreds of citizens to protest in favor of conserving the forest, farms and their gardens. The people are worried of the damage caused from exploration and exploitation in the protected forest region in Talang Mountain may threaten water sources, cause environmental problems, and threatened livelihoods of people who live off of their farms.
